Sculpture by the Lakes announces ample spring and summer events programme

Sculpture by the Lakes, Dorset’s premier sculpture park and art venue, is set to host a jam-packed programme of events celebrating the great outdoors as the weather looks to improve.

With spring just around the corner, the launch of a new photography series will kick-start in late April. Scott Macintyre, winner of the Historic England’s Historical Photographer of the year 2023, delivers photographic workshops about the Magnificent Form of Trees and Sculptures. Capturing atmospheric images after immersing himself in woodlands, landscapes and coastal regions allows Scott to remain natural and true to the subject.

As the weather warms up further, the Retreat will be the place for the ultimate day of relaxation. The Sanctuary Retreat Day aligns with the elements of earth, air, fire and water, offering gratitude to nature. The sessions, which include refreshments and lunch, involves meditation, and interactive workshop and a Qi Gong energy cleanse.

Later in May, the annual two-day Plant and Garden Fair returns with an expansive selection of plants from specialist nurseries. There will also be garden furniture for sale, ornaments and advice from experts in the field. Here, visitors will be able to discover an exclusive range of bespoke fire pits, swinging seats and birdfeeders to order.

A celebration of summer takes place with the five-day Summer Festival showcasing the works of some of the best artists and craftspeople the southwest has to offer. Visitors will be able to find amazing gifts from jewellery to leather goods and a range of exquisite handmade pieces.

Jennie Veale, events director, said: “We have lined up some amazingly talented people booked at Sculpture by the Lakes over the next few months. From photography workshops where people can really hone their skills, to days of much-needed relaxation, to a celebration of all things green, we have something for everyone as the sun comes out.”
