After four years in the making, India Electric Company present their third album Pomegranate, which they’ll be showcasing when they play Lighthouse Poole on Friday 20 September.
Best described perhaps as “a veritable musical magpie’s nest” (BBC Radio 3) and “a full musical odyssey” (BBC Radio 1), they blend traditional instruments and folk melodies with subtle electronic influences.
They’ve performed throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and last year enjoyed a mammoth 60+ date UK and European support tour with Midge Ure before returning with Pomegranate, their long awaited third studio album.
From the depths of an underworld without concerts and shared experience comes to the surface an album built in the heart of the West Country, its songs describe a life very much in motion whilst in the grips of standing still.
It weaves through their musical heritage combining their traditional folk roots and their dalliance with electronic analogue synths, along with rhythms cultivated in lands further afield and an unadulterated love of pop.
Pomegranate pushes their boundaries, in a quest to speak of all that they haven't said before and constantly evolve what India Electric Company is. It's a body of work that they have consciously created to form its very own identity, with a coherent narrative and one that both challenges and engages in its harmony and structure whilst casting its spell across a plethora of styles and genres.
India Electric Company are Cole Stacey (vocals, mandolin, guitar, percussion) and Joseph O’Keefe (piano, violin, guitar, accordion, bass, bodhrán).
