Waterside Holiday Group has donated over £5,000 to Weldmar Hospicecare after employees took part in a 24-mile trek along the Jurassic coastal path to raise money for the local charity.
13 staff members laced up for the journey, which began at the Golden Cap – the highest point on the south coast of England – and finished at Waterside Holiday Group’s Chesil Vista Holiday Park. The walk was completed after a total of 10.5 hours and 65,000 steps.
The team raised over £2,500 from donations through JustGiving, with Waterside Holiday Group matching the amount and contributing additional funds to bring the total to £5,326.
Waterside’s Group General Manager Allen Main, who took part in the walk, commented: “Weldmar Hospicecare plays a fundamental role in our Dorset community, supporting many local patients and their families with the highest quality of care. As only 21 per cent of their funds are provided by the NHS, the charity relies on fundraising initiatives to help them continue to offer exceptional services.
“We believe it is crucial for local businesses like ours to support such worthwhile causes in our community. It was great to see multiple team members take part in our Weldmar walk – a challenging but very rewarding initiative which we hope will help make a difference to a highly regarded charity in Dorset.”
Weldmar Hospicecare provides free, specialist end of life care to the local community, with a dedicated team of nurses, doctors, therapists, social workers, and counsellors. For further information about the charity, visit
