Prostate cancer health talk announced

University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) will be holding a free virtual Understanding Health talk during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month on Monday 21 March at 5pm.

 

Mr Amit Mevcha, consultant urologist at UHD, will talk about what prostate cancer is and some of the symptoms that can be experienced, as well as some of the treatments available. He will also take questions from those watching the live event on the day.


Mr Mevcha said: “The number of patients diagnosed with prostate cancer has increased over the past 10 years. With more than 50,000 diagnoses every year in the UK, it is the most common cancer in men. Early diagnosis of prostate cancer is really important as it allows us to take action early and hopefully improve a patient’s outcome.”


The free event will run via Microsoft Teams and is open to everyone. The link to the event can be found at uhd.nhs.uk/news/events. There is no need to book, simply click on the Teams link at 5pm on the day. A recording of the talk will also be available on the website after the event.
