LOCAL - Lighthouse Poole, Thursday 12 June

A show about home, belonging or not, and letting go, in Local at Lighthouse Poole on Thursday 12 June, solo storyteller Liz Richardson revisits her childhood memories and home in West Cumbria in an attempt to understand whether she still belongs there, or ever did.

In this multi-generational piece, Liz takes the audience on a journey through the rural landscape and environment of her home, reconnecting with voices from the past and her young family now. In doing so, she unearths some painful home truths.

By the end, Liz and the audience discover a shared reality that she hadn't set out to find.

Local will have audiences laughing and crying simultaneously, it will feel familiar but unsettling. Visuals and sound help encompass Liz’s world in the early 90s.

Liz last visited Lighthouse in 2023 with her memorable show Swim. Filled with humour and heart, live music and projection, she manged to entice 20 members of the audience to join her for a Summer Solstice morning swim the next day at Hamworthy Beach! At the end she promised to come back to Poole in some form… and here she is!
