Hike the Jurassic Coast for Diverse Abilities

Keen walkers and explorers are invited to join Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity, and take on the Jurassic Coast Challenge over May 14 and 15.

The Jurassic Coast Challenge features a number of distances for participants of all experience levels and ages to choose from over the weekend, from a 25-kilometre loop around Corfe Castle, to a continuous 100-kilometre trek finishing in Bridport.

Lucy Rowley, events co-ordinator at Diverse Abilities, commented: “We’re really excited to be part of this challenge. We’re all lucky to live in such a fantastic part of the world, but often don’t take the chance to properly explore it. This is a great way to see the beauty of the Jurassic Coast, while also making a huge difference to a charity right on your doorstep.”

Distances available to choose from include:

  • Full Continuous 100km: Corfe Castle to Bridport
  • Full Daylight Challenge 100km over two days: Corfe Castle to Weymouth to Bridport
  • 1st Half Challenge 58km: Corfe Castle to Weymouth
  • 2nd Half Challenge 42km: Weymouth to Bridport
  • Jurassic Marathon 42km: Corfe Castle to Lulworth Cove
  • 1st Quarter Challenge 25km: a loop from/to Corfe Castle
  • 2nd Quarter Challenge 34km: Corfe Castle to Weymouth

Claire, who is taking part in the continuous 100-kilometre challenge, added: “I took part in a similar event in 2018 with my work colleagues, and enjoyed it so much that I decided to do it again as part of my 30th birthday celebrations this year. I’m looking forward to raising as much as possible for such a wonderful cause.”

Participants can benefit from 25 per cent off registration fees and a free technical t-shirt until Thursday, March 31 with the code SPRINGCHARITY22. Entries include free food and drink at regular rest stops, plus support including medics, marshals and massage, alongside a glass of fizz and a medal at the finish line.
