Get a move on at Lighthouse!

Lighthouse has got its move on this spring with some of the most popular, challenging, creative and expressive dance and physical theatre available anywhere in the south.

The busy spring season sees a characteristically broad programme of entertainment featuring the UK’s most revered physical theatre companies and the return of some of our most popular mainstream dance outfits.

Ahead of the 185th anniversary of the birth of Dorset author and poet Thomas Hardy this summer, circus theatre specialists Ockham’s Razor bring their groundbreaking adaptation of Hardy’s classic novel Tess of the d’Urbervilles back to Lighthouse. Set against a backdrop of shifting projections, the cast wields planks, climbs shifting walls and moves through ropes in a powerful retelling of the original story.

A dynamic fairy tale for all the family, Cirque Enchantment combines mesmerising circus performances with superb choreography; while the phenomenal Gandini Juggling debut their latest show Heka at Lighthouse, where reality blurs with illusion in an absurd celebration of silliness.

The internationally lauded dance-circus originators Motionhouse return with their new production Hidden, in which seven dancers negotiate obstacles to uncover hidden vices and push into the light.

In March, we welcome the astonishing Theatre Re with Moments and Birth, a double bill exploring different aspects of parenthood, before the James Wilton Company return with their electrifying Bach Reimagined.

All of which builds to a stunning season finale when BRB2 return to Poole with director Carlos Acosta’s Diaghilev’s Gala, a new production highlighting the repertory of the legendary ballet impresario’s troupe of rebel dancers who fled Russia in 1906 to take their art to even greater heights.
