Dorset’s disability charity, Diverse Abilities, is looking for volunteers for the coming year to help with ongoing projects and a series of its own events, and community events throughout the year.
Volunteering activities include:
The charity supports children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities through services such as Langside School, a specialist school for children aged 2 to 19 and The Beehive, a therapy and activity centre for adults. Any help received or money raised will ensure the charity is able to provide the best support through their services to make every day better for the children and adults supported by the charity.
Becky Edwards, Marketing and Volunteers Executive at Diverse Abilities, commented: “We’ve got an exciting calendar of events and fundraising initiatives this year where we need the help of our local community to take on a variety of tasks including running stalls, handing out flyers, helping at events or being part of a cheer squad for running events. We also need help in our services to run much needed sessions for children and adults, as well as help with gardening at The Treehouse in Hurn.”
Volunteers are crucial to the work charities like Diverse Abilities carry out, and donating free time is just as valuable as giving money. The opportunities give volunteers a chance to learn new skills, meet new people, enhance CVs, gain experience, discover new interests and improve mental wellbeing.
