Dorset law firm steps up for hospitals fundraiser

Solicitors have thrown the might of the law behind a ‘Walk for Wards’ fundraiser in aid of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch hospitals.

Regional law firm Ellis Jones Solicitors has stepped up as the headline ‘gold’ sponsor for the extravaganza at the Somerley House estate near Ringwood on Saturday September 4.

Now it is urging people to follow in its footsteps by tackling either a three, five or 10 kilometre route at the event.

All proceeds are in aid of the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity for the Royal Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch hospitals.

Ellis Jones – with more than 160 staff and 18 Partners – will be entering a team drawn from its offices in Bournemouth, Canford Cliffs (Poole), Ringwood, Swanage, Wimborne and London.

Managing Partner Nigel Smith said: “Our local hospitals and NHS staff deserve the utmost support and appreciation.

“By joining forces with the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity as gold sponsor, I hope we can make this a brilliant event and raise as much money as possible for this fantastic cause.”

Nigel added: “It would be great to see lots of families, individuals and groups of friends join in. I’m sure our team will throw themselves wholeheartedly into the walk too.”

Walk for Wards will be University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity’s first ‘in-person’ event since forming in April of this year from a merger of separate charities for Poole and Bournemouth hospitals.

Karen Smith, Fundraising Manager, said: “We’re so delighted that Ellis Jones have come on board as gold sponsor of our flagship fundraising event, Walk for Wards.

“Their support allows us to raise funds to enhance the care and treatment of patients through enhanced facilities, state of the art equipment and support for staff health, wellbeing and development.

“Thank you to Ellis Jones for kindly sponsoring our event and supporting our hospitals as we recover from the pandemic.”

University Hospitals Dorset serves a population of more than 800,000 people and employs 9,000 people.
