Diverse Abilities return to judge Bike of the Night at Poole Quay Dream Machines

Diverse Abilities, Dorset’s disability charity, have returned to the Dream Machines event on Poole Quay organised by BCP Council as guest judges to choose the final “Bike of the Night” of 2022.

This time it was the turn of Graeme, Simon, Matt and Natalie, who are supported by the charity’s Supported Living Service. They are regular spectators at the event and had the opportunity to view the bikes on display along the quay front. Together they chose a bike as the evening’s Bike of the Night, and to go forward to the Bike of the Year competition.

The winner was Jude Wardell-Knights with his Harley Davidson Trike (pictured with Graeme and Simon). Jude is a regular visitor to the event and was pleased to be going home with Bike of the Night title.

Simon, one of this week’s guest judges commented: “I really loved the paintwork on the Harley Davidson Trike, and it was sparkly clean. It also struck a cord with us all as it was a trike and the owner has cerebral palsy too.”

Diverse Abilities Supported Living Service offers 24-hour care, seven days a week, 365 days a year to adults with physical and learning disabilities who are supported in their own home. Their personal support workers assist every individual with day-to-day activities and to take part in their hobbies and interests.

Emma Wray, Supported Living team leader, commented: “Graeme, Simon, Matt and Natalie love coming to bike night throughout the summer. It’s a great opportunity to meet up with friends, chat about the bikes and have a drink in the pub.”
