Volunteers and vans are required to join Diverse Abilities’ efforts for a sustainable Christmas as part of its Treecycling fundraising initiative.

The Treecycling weekend takes place from Friday 6 January until Monday 9 January 2023, the charity will be collecting Poole, Bournemouth, Christchurch, East Dorset, and Ringwood’s Christmas trees for recycling following the festive period. Volunteers are required for driving vans and wayfinding, as well as dropping of the trees at its nominated recycling points across the conurbation and beyond. 

Claire Cooper, fundraising officer at Diverse Abilities, commented: “Treecycling is a great way to get out in the fresh air and blow away the cobwebs following the Christmas period. It’s one of our most important fundraisers of the year and allows us to raise vital money for the children and adults we support. 2022 was a record-breaking year for the collection, and we’re hoping to increase the number of trees collected this year.”

Vans, of Transit size or larger, are required to help the collection and business, families, or community groups with access to these are encouraged to get in touch and provide support over the weekend.

Claire continued: “There’s no need to give up your whole weekend, just providing a day or even a few hours will help to make a huge difference to collect all the trees booked over the festive period. It’s always a really fun weekend, and we look forward to welcoming more volunteers onboard this year.”
